For the past two weeks my house has felt this this. From the chaos of wedding week, to the generous piles of wedding gifts, followed by the temporary moving-in of my husband, to the preparation for a full move… my house has felt like a Hoarders episode. Covered in stuff from top to bottom: no open counter space, unsittable couches covered in things, a maze of boxes for the feet to navigate, and a cat hidden somewhere amidst all of it! While my house is still filthy-dirty and littered with random items, I am pleased to say that as of this weekend we are nearly completely moved out of my house and into our first apartment!
Two things I’ve learned these past few weeks: no one tells you how bluesy the day after the wedding is (I cried for pretty much the full 24 hours after, lamenting the fact that it was over, my friends were gone, it was so perfect, it went by too fast, I didn’t have my wedding pictures yet, and about a million other things that didn’t really require tears but still prompted emotions in my very exhausted body) and you forget just what a major pain packing is until you have to do it again. I swear, you settle yourself into a new place and immediately forget about the stress and hassle and exhaustion of packing and unpacking.
And so, after a week of frantically throwing things in boxes and loading up cars, the stressful feelings are subsiding as I lovingly look at all of my things in their new space, in a new city, surrounded by new adventures. Dear reader, this is my new home. Expect to see many more pictures in this little apartment in the year to come, but until then, here’s a few snaps of the Thompson’s new home:
Stepping out of your comfort zone into a new adventure is definitely a little charm of life- and that’s what this move is: one big leap out of my home-town comfort zone into apartment life in a new city. I’m ready to take on all the new charms life has to offer!
