As of today I am one month away from my wedding day! A while back I shared some wedding plans here on the blog… today I want to share what I have planned since then. Things have changed, ideas have morphed, and I will take you along on the journey.
First I must say, I did not originally make these mood boards to be shared here. I made them solely for personal planning purposes. I would whip up a graphic and text it off to my bridesmaids or mom or fiance for feedback. While I’m not sure if my family and friends enjoyed it, I found this use of mood boards to be incredibly beneficial to my planning. It kept me organized and kept things visual- which in turn kept me excited and encouraged.
Seen here is the very first mood board I created to “pitch” my wedding vision to my parents. This is what started it all. This graphic served as a jumping off point into my real, hardcore, wedding planning. You know the type of planning where you actually start making decisions and committing to vendors. That all started after I created this mood board, where I was able to see the whole day laid out on one pinterest-sized picture.
Floral
Floral is going to be a huge part of the day. We will have very minimal decor outside and so I am hoping to have floral as the main focal point. These were my inspiration florals from my Pinterest page. I sent this mood board to my florist so she had an idea of what I wanted.
But before I got to that point, I had shared this mood board with my family- asking for their opinions and preferences on different styles and types of bouquets.
Bridesmaid Dresses
The next major decision was bridesmaid dresses. Because this event is going to be quite casual, I wanted to stay away from matchy matchy traditional dresses. Below you can see the evolution of my ideas as decisions were made between me and my bridesmaids.
First decision to be made: one dress in three colors, one color but three dresses, or choose your own floral?
Consensus was reached with option three. Next step was to find a floral dress for each girl that would flatter them individually, but also kinda go together. I went through hours of online shopping to find dresses I liked. Then, sent this graphic to my girls and asked them to choose a dress or a grouping of dresses they liked.
That was then narrowed to this:
Which finally ended up as this:
Rentals
You know when you’re online shopping and you have to keep flipping between tabs and you just want to see how things would look together. I solved that dilemma with the following graphic.
The rental company’s website was so hard to navigate and I kept flipping pages and losing things. They had great pictures on their site, it was just hard to navigate. So I grabbed those pictures and made this. I was sure to include prices and such so when I shared with my fiance and family, I didn’t have to keep clicking all over the website to find the information I needed.
Lastly, I needed disposable products for the dessert table. Start searching Amazon and you will realize the options are seemingly endless. I narrowed it down to some favorites, whipped up this mood board, and shared it with my family in hopes of finding the perfect combo for the cheesecake display.
Whew! Making decisions is definitely not a little charm of life, but with the help of some basic graphic design technology, these decisions become a little easier to make. So, thank you Canva for being such an instrumental help in my wedding planning process. For all the brides out their planning and decision making- take it from me, make that free Canva account and start copying and pasting all those things over. It’s going to make sharing all your ideas and finds sooooo much easier.
