I never considered myself to be a huge pumpkin spice fan. Maybe it’s just the season, or maybe I need to rebrand myself, but lately I have really been enjoying my local gas station’s pumpkin spice latte from the cappuccino machine.
Confession: I’ve had a 16 oz pumpkin spice every day this week. I can’t continue in this pattern of self destruction. I decided I needed a different way to enjoy pumpkin spice that didn’t include so much sugar and calories and dairy (eeeeeeek!).
Pumpkin butter is one of my favorite treats. We used to pick up a jar of pumpkin butter or apple butter on our seasonal trip to the pumpkin patch. I have always enjoyed it, but I had no idea it was so easy to make! Well easy to make, and so many ways to make it. I have studied countless recipes on Pinterest and they vary so much. It’s unbelievable! Each recipe calls for the same basic ingredients, but they all have different ratios and measurements and amounts. How can a person keep track of so many measuring cups?!
So I guess the gist is, pumpkin butter is easy to make and really not very fussy. You put whatever you want into the crockpot and it will turn out delicious.
I wanted my recipe to be simple, easy to remember (so I don’t have to find the recipe each time I want to make it), and super yummy. I think I have accomplished just that, but I need to gather more data before I present the final results. Try it out and let me know what you think!

Pumpkin butter, apple butter, peanut butter, just regular old butter… is there anything better to spread on warm toast than butter? The answer is no. No there is not. But don’t think that’s the only thing it can do. I enjoy pumpkin butter as a dip. The saltiness of pretzels perfectly complements the sweetness of the butter, or try it on top of a Ritz cracker! Careful, this treat is addicting.
Last night I was making my overnight oats for breakfast, when two spoonfuls of pumpkin butter “accidentally” ended up in the bowl. It was worth a try, right? The pumpkin butter not only added a delicious flavor, but it also gave my oats an extra creamy consistency. Sooooo gooood.
How do you use pumpkin butter? Let me know in the comments below!
Oh and I totally forgot to tell you! It’s not fall anymore. I hope you enjoyed those precious few days of crisp air and pretty leaves, because they are gone now. I woke up this morning to a blanket of snow in my yard!
I just wanted a picture of my locket on a pumpkin and look what I had to settle for!
In all honestly, it’s okay because I love snow. It’s a little charm of life and I’m glad it made an early appearance this year.
