Back to Hogwarts: Butterbeer Fudge Recipe

Harry Potter Back to Hogwarts Origami Owl Locket

We are well into the month of September. I hope families are settling back into their school time routine. I am patiently waiting for cold season to hit so I can start subbing again. (is that bad for me to say? Even though its the truth?)

Meanwhile, in the Wizarding World, the students of Hogwarts are all moved in and getting back into the swing of school life. Soon the students will get to enjoy a little break from classes and learning, as they venture to the nearby village of Hogsmeade. On this trip, many students will visit the Three Broomsticks Inn where they will most likely indulge in a deliciously sweet Butterbeer.

As Muggles, we may not be able to go to Hogwarts or visit the Three Broomsticks, but that doesn’t mean we can’t partake in some yummy Butterbeer.

Butterbeer Fudge

Inspired by Origami Owl’s new Back to Hogwarts collection, I have conjured up a Butterbeer recipe to enjoy this fall. My recipe is a variation of a recipe written by Miranda at Cookie Dough and Oven Mitt. I include a little bit of actual booze, so be warned that this recipe will have a very small alcohol content (just like real Butterbeer). If you’re not into that, simply replace the Rumchata with half as much rum extract.

Butterbeer Fudge

A deliciously sweet, Harry Potter inspired fudge that’s best served cold on a warm September day.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup half and half (or heavy whipping cream)
  • 7 oz marshmallow cream
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 11 oz butterscotch chips
  • 4 tsp rumchata (or 2 tsp rum extract)

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×9 pan with tin foil and spray with nonstick spray

  2. In a saucepan stir together butter, half and half, marshmallow cream, and sugar. Place over medium heat, stirring constantly.

  3. Continue stirring until mixture starts to boil, allow to boil for five minutes.

  4. Remove from heat, add in extracts and butterscotch chips. Stir until all chips are melted.

  5. Pour into prepared pan and place in fridge to set.

  6. Once chilled, cut and serve!

Recipe Notes

This yummy treat is best served cold, as it will become sticky and melty in warm and humid environments.

Harry Potter and his Wizarding World continue to be a charm to many. His story has inspired me to make this unique fudge recipe. He has inspired Origami Owl to create an entire jewelry line. If you’re reading this, he has probably inspired you in some way too. You can keep that inspiration as a little charm in a locket. Click here to see the entire Harry Potter collection.
