I made it through another week and celebrated with a busy weekend.
Saturday was spent cleaning cabins at a local resort. My sister and I made 33 beds together! I have bruises from running into bedposts and a sore back from leaning inside bunk beds. To celebrate our hard work we went to our family’s lake cabin for a refreshing swim and a pizza party.
Fact: I greatly dislike last minute plans, but somehow they always turn into my favorite days.
On Saturday night my mom made some super last minute plans to go to a Twins game. And so at 8 am on Sunday morning, we (Mom, Dad, Meg, Dylan, and I) loaded into the car to head to the city. (Feeling slightly guilty for skipping church, we listened to the live stream of Westwood‘s sermon during the first hour of our trip.)
The game was great! I’m not any good at sports talk so if you want to know about the game, check out the highlights here. Dad scored us some great seats. As you can see from the pictures, we were CLOSE to the field (5th row guys, I probably could have spit on the field from my seat). I am always impressed by Target Field; it’s clean, it’s comfortable, and it’s all around FUN.
Knowing we were leaving early in the morning, I threw this locket together late Saturday night. As I sat in front of my jewelry box I thought…
hmm what do I think of when I think of baseball?
Of course my mind went straight to food. So my locket ended up being an ode to stadium food. And of course I threw in the Twins charm with a few red and blue crystals for added color.
The entire drive down, I imagined myself sitting in my seat sipping an iced tea and chowing down on a hot dog while watching the Twins hit ball after ball into the stands. In reality, I opted for a corn dog and lemonade and the game was pretty slow until the seventh inning.
Regardless, it was great day (despite the 90 degree temps) and I even got to see Mickey Mouse!
…well kinda.
Dear friends, even if you’re not a huge sports fan, gather your family, take an afternoon, and go to a baseball game. Whether you grab tickets on the field or in the nose bleeds, there’s no bad seats in Target Field. It’s a little charm of Minnesota and it makes for a perfect summer day.
