Hamburgers, hot dogs, popsicle, and good music = the makings of a great summer day.
Yesterday I was invited over to my grandpa’s house for burgers on the grill. It was the perfect little get together with my grandpa, step grandma, parents, sister, and aunt. I can’t believe its already the end of June and I just enjoyed my first BBQ of the summer. I love a good hamburger on the grill. I might even go as far as saying it’s my favorite food. (warning: I have a lot of favorite foods, get used to hearing about it)
Not only did I enjoy a great BBQ, but I also got to spend an evening at the lake. I love to paddle board and yesterday was the BEST weather to be out on the water. It was a beautiful 75 degrees, a very slight breeze, and the water was just cool enough to be refreshing.
After my delicious dinner (which I forgot to take a picture of), my grandpa took us for a ride on the pontoon. With bellies full of hamburger, beans, and potato chips, everyone was craving a nice cold ice cream cone. We loaded into the boat and headed towards the ice cream shop.
We may be locals to this area, but it turns out we’re not very knowledgeable. After docking the pontoon on the edge of town, we walked towards the eerily darkened shops.
Ice cream shop: CLOSED
Grocery store: CLOSED
Gas station: CLOSED
Who knew the entire town closes down at 8:00 on a Wednesday night!
Disappointed, we all loaded back into the boat ice cream free. I guess the only sweet treat I got to enjoy was that adorable popsicle charm in my locket. Fortunately, the boat ride was perfect and totally made up for the lack of ice cream. Often times the little charms of life are moments. What is your little charm of a summer moment?
